A/L results out; 181,126 students eligible for university entrance



The Department of Examinations said 181,126 candidates who sat for the GCE Advanced Level Examination-2019 have become eligible to apply for university entrance as per the released examination results which could be obtained via www.doenets.lk

A total of 281,786 candidates sat for the examination for three subjects.  

The results of 71 candidates have been suspended due to various irregularities, Commissioner General of Exams Sanath Pujitha said.

The department also announced that the closing date for re-corrections is on January 17, 2020. Therefore, applications to scrutinise 2019 A/L results should be forwarded to the Examinations Department before that date.

A total of 337, 704 applicants sat for the A/L examination which was conducted in 2,678 examination centres islandwide from August 5 to 31. Of them, 4,789 applicants faced the exams as private candidates.

Exams were held in both old and new syllabuses and a total of 244,146 students faced the exams under the old syllabus while 198,229 students faced the exams under the new syllabus.

When comparing with the last year, there were 167,907 students, who were qualified for university entrance whereas 181,126 students have been qualified for university entrance this year. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
