A close associate of underworld figure 'Pookutu Kanna' had been arrested with drugs and cash worth over Rs. 1 million by the STF at Modara Uyana in Grandpass, Colombo.

Police said the suspect had been handling drug trafficking and underworld activities of Pookutukanna.

The STF recovered 27 grams of heroin, 8 grams of Ice, two gold chains with three pendants, a sword, a nunchaku, a kris knife and three mobile phones from the suspect’s possession.

The suspect was handed over to the Grandpass Police for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Kiribathgoda Police has arrested a 37-year-old suspect with 213 grams of heroin at a house at Gonawala in Kelaniya.

In addition, another suspect was also arrested in Ganemulla for the possession of 150 grams of heroin.
