Aluthgamage says Ranil-Ranjan planned to kill him, asks Speaker to take action
State Minister of Power and Energy, Mahindananada Aluthgamage today requested Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to take action against former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and MP Ranjan Ramanayake, whom he accused of plotting to kill him.
He raised a privilege issue while referring to a phone conversation between Mr. Wickremesinghe and Mr. Ramanayake where they had spoken of killing him.
“Mr. Ramanayake is heard telling Mr. Wickremesinghe that he had undergone training in pistol shooting to kill me. Mr. Wickremesinghe is heard telling the MP to carry out the operation. What will become of Parliament if a Prime Minister asks an MP to kill an Opposition MP," the state minister asked.
He said he would lodge a police complaint against Mr. Wickremesinghe and Mr. Ramanayake and recalled that Mr Ramanayake had undergone shooting practise at his residence. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
