SJB MP Mujibur Rahman yesterday urged the government to seek India’s support to get Sri Lankan woman ‘ Sara’ deported from that country as she is directly involved in the Easter Sunday attacks.
Mr. Rahman told the Daily Mirror that it will be possible to uncover vital information on Easter Sunday attacks if Sara is brought down from India and is questioned
“I am also prepared to help the government in this endeavor. I have brought this to the notice of the Presidential Commission probing the Easter Sunday attacks when I was summoned,” he added.
Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harin Fernando yesterday said he only questioned as to whether the churches were given a prior warning on the Easter Sunday attacks at the Commission probing the Easter Sunday attacks and why the church did not warn the devotees in turn if they did receive such a warning.
“I have been misunderstood by sections including the media,” he said in a statement.
“It is common knowledge that the VIP Security Division was given a prior warning on the impending attacks on Easter Sunday by the police. Therefore the question I raised at the Commission as to why the police did not warn any of the churches. If the churches were given a prior warning, they should have alerted the Catholic devotees. It has to be probed as to why the churches were not warned if that was the case,” Mr. Fernando said.
“My father died of mental distress caused by this false publicity which involved me while my children also went through a hard time. There might have been a misunderstanding on my part with regard to Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith. However SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa intervened and cleared the misunderstanding if there was one.,” he said. (Yohan Perera)
