The indigenous herbal syrup produced by Indigenous medical practitioner Dhammika Bandara which is claimed to be a cure for COVID-19 was not given to the opposition MPs, an SJB MP said today.
SJB MP Mujibur Rahman told a press conference that the syrup bottles which were brought to Parliament on Thursday were given only to ruling party MPs.
“Maybe the government must be thinking that opposition MPs should not be protected from the pandemic,” Mr. Rahman said.
“However, MPs could be saved from the pandemic as there will be no Parliament sessions till January next year,” he said at the same time.
Meanwhile, the MP said it is happy to note that some government MPs backing the opposition in their struggle to get the green light for burying Muslims who succumb to COVID-19. “MPs Dilan Perera and even Professor Tissa Vitharana who is a virologist had backed the allowing of burial of those who die of COVID-19. We are happy about the stance they have taken on the issue,” Mr. Rahman said.
“Sri Lanka should follow 190 other countries which allow the burial of those who succumb to COVID-19. Some people follow religious rites when their pet animals die. Why not allow that for humans?” he questioned.(Yohan Perera)
