Samagi Jana Balawegaya ( SJB) yesterday urged the UNP to handover the party leadership to its deputy leader Ruwan Wijewardene and bring about a real change in the party.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara told a press conference, the leadership of UNP should be handed over to Mr. Wijewardene as it would be an effective move if the party is to remain in the political fabric of the country.

“We are ready to accept UNP as one of our allies if Mr. Wijewardene is appointed leader" Mr. Madduma Bandara said.

On a different note SJB MP Harin Fernando said the SJB will come out with a hotline from Wednesday November 4, 2020, through which it will disseminate information on the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will notify the hotline number shortly. We have decided to launch this hotline to provide correct information on the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka, as we feel that proper information is not disclosed," he said.(Yohan Perera)
