The delivery process of the Sathosa relief package ‘Sahana Malla’ for the people who most affected in the Gampaha district due to the current COVID pandemic is to be initiated from today, Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.
Addressing the media he said the relief packages worth Rs.1, 000 each would be delivered to the doorstep of every person in the Gampaha district with the support of the Sri Lanka Army during the ongoing restriction spell.
Through the direction of Army Commander Shavendra Silva, several vehicles were provided for the delivery of relief packages.
"The Colombo and Gampaha districts have been identified as the high risk and affected areas. Therefore, the delivery of the Sathosa relief packages for the Colombo district bagan earlier and for the Gampaha district from today,"
The relief packages containing ten essential consumer items worth Rs.1,000 each and this will be a great relief for the people who got stuck in their homes due to the outbreak, the Minister added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
