A 29-year-old Kazakhstani female was injured in an accident that took place on the Southern Expressway (E-O1) between Aparekka and Beliatta exchange last night, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said an ambulance of a private hospital collided with a lorry on the Expressway this morning, police said.

The expressway traffic division opened a probe into the accident, he said.

The Kazakhstani national was admitted to the Tangalle hospital, the Spokesman said. 

Police investigations disclosed that the mishap took place when the ambulance was carrying the foreigner to the Mattala Rajapaksa Hambantota Airport (MRIA), DIG Ajith Rohana added.
