UK updates travel advisory after patient in SL tested positive for coronavirus

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has yesterday updated its travel advisory on Sri Lanka after a patient was tested positive for new coronavirus in the country.

The updated travel advisory said that there is an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus in China but cases have been confirmed in other countries as well.

“The Sri Lankan Health Ministry confirmed that one patient has tested positive for coronavirus. The Sri Lankan Government is taking various precautions to prevent the spread of the virus,” it said.

It further said the Health Ministry has introduced a 24 hour hotline for anyone requiring information on coronavirus.

“Sri Lanka’s Airport and Aviation Service has announced that with immediate effect only passengers will be allowed onto the airport premises. Precautionary measures have also been introduced for some flight arrivals. You should follow the instructions of airport authorities when travelling to and from Sri Lanka,” the advisory said.
