The United Kingdom has updated its travel advice on Sri Lanka following the confirmation by the Sri Lankan Health Ministry that a patient has tested positive for coronavirus.
The latest foreign travel advice issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) says the Sri Lankan Health Ministry has confirmed that one patient has been tested positive for coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China but now present in other countries as well.
The FCO on GOV.UK website said the Sri Lankan government is taking various precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. The Health Ministry has issued a press release and introduced a 24-hour hotline for anyone requiring information on coronavirus.
Sri Lanka’s Airport & Aviation Service has announced that with immediate effect only passengers will be allowed into the airport premises. Precautionary measures have also been introduced for some flight arrivals.
The UK citizens have been asked to follow the instructions of airport authorities when travelling to and from Sri Lanka.
