Prabath Samarasooriya did Sri Lanka proud by successfully showcasing two sets of collections ‘Expect the unexpected’ inspired by Sri Lankan eclectic culture and ‘Jassana’ inspired by the Jessana area in Sri Lanka.

The Electric Peacock Festival came alive at “The Light House” situated on Chaithya Road where the Grammy award winning Felix B of Basement Jaxx, Chicane, DJ Nihal, Asvajit and Tim made sure that the whole of Colombo was aware of their presence.

“38” was a fashion show choreographed by Runway Guru Brian Kerkoven to fund the building of four Schools in Jaffna, held in November 11, 2011 at the British School Auditorium. 

Sri Lanka Design Festival which concluded at the Mount Lavinia Hotel dedicated its first day’s showing to Sri Lankan craftsman and local talent. Among famous local designers such as Yolande Aluwihare and Darshi Keerthisena, there emerged local brands such as Kandygs and Dilly’s and young designers such as Prabath Ratnasuriya, KUR and Dimuthu Sahabandu.

The Sri Lanka Design Festival 2011 was held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel recently.

The grand finale of Sri Lanka’s Up-and-Coming Designer of the Year awards highlighted yet again the abundant young talent that is growing here in Sri Lanka. Held at Waters Edge, the finale was an extravagant night of glitz and glamour as audience members gathered for a show filled with couture designs and fun filled entertainment.

Popular television personality Sudharma Nethicumara joined hands with Shashi Weerawansa last week to mark the inauguration of the enthralling tele series ‘Baryawo’ at a muhurath ceremony held at Continental Hotel.
