  • SJB says will assist the Archbishop of Colombo and Catholics to find the real perpetrators

Investigations on the Easter Sunday attacks and taking action against the mastermind behind could be pushed to the back seat because of the statement made by the Attorney General, an SJB MP said yesterday.

SJB MP Lakshman Kiriella came up with this allegation in response to a question raised by journalists at a press conference on the statement made by the Attorney General that he cannot file legal action against anyone as CID investigations are incomplete. “The Attorney General has indirectly said that there is no adequate evidence to take action against anyone,” Mr. Kiriella said.

“Even the SIS director had received prior information of the attack and he had told the Presidential Commission that he had not told anyone about it. It is written in the commission report. Also, an intelligence officer had met the attacker who blew himself up in Dehiwala. This officer had met the terrorists before he blew himself up. Even a small child can understand that these are clear evidence. I am not saying that all members of intelligence units are involved as 90 per cent of them are innocent, “he said.
