The quarrel over the preferential votes (Manapa Poraya) between Ministers and State Ministers who will be contesting at the forthcoming General Elections has already begun, sources said.

A spokesperson of the SLPP said that this situation was evident especially among his party’s bigwigs in the Central and Southern Province.

It was learnt that a cold war has already begun where State Ministers were not invited for ceremonies in districts which are hostile to them, disregarding them and insulting them.
However, some Ministers and State Ministers of the government have been excessively disappointed over such hostilities shown towards several State Ministers representing their districts.
A key SLPP politician in the North-Western Province has summoned organisers and asked them not to give votes to anyone except for himself since he was to be appointed to a higher post in the party.
