Three killed, eight injured in stampede in Maligawatte

Three women had been killed while eight others were injured in a stampede at Jumma Masjid Road in Maligawatte a short while ago, the Police said.

The incident had occurred when a group of about 500 people had gathered at a house, where cash had been distributed by an individual.

The Police said six people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The injured were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.(DSB)

It's clearly mentioned in Islam the methodology of distribution of Sadaqa. Ideally we should go to the poor and give it with utmost secret without harming the recepients self respect

BUT THE PRESENT DAY SITUATION IS SUCH THAT ALL ARE RUSHING TO GET THE 5,000 THE GOVT PAYS. THEREFORE, THE RUSH OF PEOPLE TO COLLECT THE DONATION BEFORE OTHERS COULD GET. HOWEVER, THE DONOR IS SHORTSIGHTED AND WOULD NOT HAVE EXPECTED THE CROWD RUSHING TO GET THE CASH.VERY UNFORTUNATE

you can understand how poor is the Muslim community in certain areas, even though the media is trying to give a different picture. this shows they were desperate to get this small amount. if government had treated them fairly without making them scapegoats listing to others nabhour. this would not have happened. they were traumatized by the media
