Event organiser Chandimal Jayasinghe and model Piumi Hansamali who were arrested by the Fort Police on charges of violating quarantine regulations for organising a birthday party at a five star hotel in Colombo, have been released on bail.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the suspects were produced before the Hulfsdorp Magistrate Court and released on Rs. 1 million personal bail.

The case would be taken before the court again On August 27, 2021.

He said the police are investigating to arrest others who attended the party through the CCTV footages. (DSB)

Granted bail....what a joke this is. When others who break the quarantine laws are locked in a quarantine centre, these two are out in no time. Where is the equal law for all?? What hypocrites we have as a law makers. Such a sad situation for law and order in this country.
