No online liquor delivery allowed: Excise Dept. responds to reports

The Excise Department today denied reports that liquor can be purchased via online from the supermarkets from today.

It was reported that liquor can be ordered online from supermarkets from today similar to ordering other food items.

Excise Spokesman Kapila Kumarasingha said that the department had not authorized or approved to sell liquor online.(DSB)

when everything else can be ordered online from supermarkets, why not liquore? afterall, you're consuming it at your home unlike piumi hansamali. after that when you need clothes, you have them at home. no need to worry busy ministers...LOL..

Why the seal at a liquor store was open a few days ago, and plenty went missing, so whats the issue in distributing whats paid for. In countries like Canada supermarkets deliver liquor.

Only liquor cannot be ordered online. Why not? I don't drink, but that's not the point. If someone wants to get down a bottle of liquor from a supermarket like any other commodity and consume it in his home, it's nobody else's business.
