Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka had told UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who visited him at Welikada Prison today that he was not even given a cup of tea in his prison cell. He also said that there was no measure taken to protect him from mosquitoes either. (YP)

What is his problem? The people in the North even have no water to drink. If the cost of living goes up like this the whole population will not be able to drink tea.

Plight of the university education and the quality of some of the outputs from the uni system can be explained if this gentleman(?) is a professor teaching students in Sri Lanka. One may have a political bias but if one is an academic one needs to exercise balanced judgment that takes relevant factors into consideration.

Is this what our Buddhist Country teaches? A one time great war hero which this Govt was praising, now this same war hero is suffering in Jail. The Govt should be ashamed of itself.

RW, JVP and Sf himself want SF to stay in the prison for political capitalization. Government will have a difficult time to get SF out of the Prison. Best passages may be to offer SF a USA prison that set for top level white collar convicts by USA where they live in luxury and still serve the world on good things or set SF free on a Presidential pardon. Good for the country and good for the people. SF had enough bitter political ride so far. He is a Sri Lankan after all.

Ranil is trying to gain some political mileage by visiting the General. He must be disappointed he didn't get a cup of tea from the General and uttered this comment. No political party can come to power as long as there are weak leaders. None of the SL political parties have strong, charismatic, honest leaders except SF and that's why he is kept in a prison.

Most of the people who blame at SF, including those in Govt., do so against their conscience, like not lived during 30 years of war time. It is a shame for specially Sinhalese as we simply forget the past. We have become an ungrateful nation in front of the World. May be SF is not 100% right, but what he did for the country to get rid of war is much above of all.
