Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) announced the launch of SLIM Brand Excellence Awards 2016, based on the theme, ‘Excellence is an obsession’, held aimed at recognizing brands and brand custodians that are excelling in the arena of marketing.
“As the national body for marketing we have the duty to elevate the marketing status, to promote marketing studies, and reward and recognize the best practice in the field of marketing,” SLIM President Upul Adikari said.
He said that the main objective of this event is to encourage development in the industry of marketing, build sustainable brands which brings in financial results and to reward and recognize brands and its custodians who are the real heroes of developing brands in the country.
He said that for past 15 years SLIM awards has been a national platform for national and international brands to gain recognition and status to the country.
He said that this will be an initiative to encourage strategic and result-oriented thinking, held under four pillars which are; brand development, sales, advertising and research.
It includes events such as the SLIM brand excellence awards, NASCO, the Effies and the people’s awards.
It was noted that brands will be evaluated under four areas which are; brand intent, brand content, brand processors and brand performance.
Project Chairman Lakshitha Wijesihnge said that this is a golden opportunity for the brands to showcase their success story, and to tell the world about their brand.
“This is the opportunity to show the world that you are that obsessed person for excellence, that you are behind that excellent brand,” he said inviting all the brands to be a part of SLIM 2016.
The awards will be presented under 13 different categories such as, product brand of the year, service brand of the year, innovative brand of the year, turn-a-round brand of the year, SME brand of the year, best new entrant of the year, international brand of the year, CSR brand of the year, export brand of the year, online brand of the year etc.
Further it was noted that, closing date for entries will be the 20th of July.
