19-year-old suspect arrested for sexually abusing sister

A 19-year old person was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing his 12-year sister, the police said. He is to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate.   

 The police initiated investigations on information from the National Child Protection Authority.   

Investigations revealed that the girl had been abused at times for about four years until she told it to a relative. She had said that she was sexually abused by showing her a pornographic film when she was a Grade 3 student. Now she is in Grade 7. The suspect was to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate yesterday.   

Chief Inspector Roshini of the Women and Children’s Bureau of the Poddala Police is conducting further investigations on the instructions of OIC, Poddala Police, Chief Inspector Neranjal Silva.
