Colombo, December 23 (Daily Mirror)- Some 50 elephants have died due to unauthorised connection of the CEB's electricity supply to fences or wires so far in 2024, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said.
The CEB said it has already taken various appropriate measures over this illegal act and urged for public support to protect the wild elephant resources of the country.
"If you have any information regarding unauthorised connections of electricity supply to fences or wires, you are requested to inform the CEB immediately via 0112 118 767 or on our Hotline Number 1987. We invite you to join us in preserving the wild elephant resource, which has religious and cultural significance since ancient times, attracts and loved by local and foreign tourists, and contributes to strengthening the economy of the country," the CEB said.
