7.0 magnitude earthequake hits Japan

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake occurred on Sunday afternoon in the east of the Japanese main island of Honshu, shaking was felt in Tokyo, local media reported.

The earthquake occurred at 14:27 local time (05:27 GMT), about 486 kilometres (302 miles) south-southwest of Tokyo, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said. It was about 370km deep, according to JMA.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury and no tsunami alert was issued. (RIA Novosti)
