Advisory issued on severe lightning, torrential rains

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-Western Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the Meteorology Department forecast.

The department has indicated the likelihood of fairly heavy showers exceeding 100 mm in certain areas.

With the possibility of temporary localized strong winds accompanying thundershowers, the department advises the public to exercise caution and implement necessary precautions to mitigate potential damages resulting from lightning activity.
