All arrangements have been made to conduct the 2022 national Poson festival targeting the sacred cities of (Atamasthana) in Anuradhapura, Mihintale and Thanthirimale, the Government Information Department said.

They said the national Poson festival will be held for the 2330th time under the theme "Let's liberate the country from myth".

The 'Pahan Perahera' will start from the Isurumuniya Rajamaha Viharaya on Sunday (10). The annual 'Hewisi Puja' will be held at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Mihintawalawa sacred lands.

Even though 200 dansalas had been registered in the previous years, only 15 dansalas were registered this year. An uninterrupted power supply will be provided for the places where special religious rites are performed.

The Sri Lanka Navy will provide 24-hour special life-guard services for the devotees who arrive in Anuradhapura.

A decision has been taken not to conduct any Poson carnival, and a healthcare program is being planned jointly by the City Council and the Environmental Protection Authority to ensure the sanitation of the city.  (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
