SJB MP Patali Champika Ranawaka yesterday said he had got a threatening call from an anonymous caller who had threatened that he would put out a video clip of the former.

Mr. Ranawaka said in a statement that the caller had identified himself as a witness to the case filed against him and is pending in courts.

“This person called me between 11 am and 12 noon on Tuesday, December 14 and said that he is aware of every detail of the case that had been filed against him and is pending in courts. The caller said he was the one who took Sandeep Gunawardene to see a State Minister who was involved in the accident for which a case has been filed against me. He said he was also the one who took all those who are giving evidence against me to another cabinet Minister,” Mr. Ranawaka said.

Mr. Ranawaka said he will put out an audio clip of mine in the coming days. Also, he said he will come to meet me soon. I would like to state that is surely a false one and will not meet this person.

“This is a tactic by the government to destroy its opponents. This is also one of those dramas which are being created to divert the attention of the people at a time the country and the government is facing a severe financial crisis,” he added.(Yohan Perera)
