Health authorities today said they are considering allowing returnees to be placed in home quarantine after undergoing a PCR test.
Director General of Health Asela Gunawardena said the number of days an individual is placed in quarantine will be reduced.
He told the COVID-19 task force that a number of options are being considered and decisions will be reached soon.
Among the options being looked into is to allow returnees to complete part of their quarantine process at home.
Dr. Gunawardena also said that the proposal to allow those vaccinated overseas to travel freely in Sri Lanka after a PCR is conducted is being considered.
