The authorities have raised serious concern over people's carefree attitude in the aftermath of the lifting of curfew in the country.

State Minister Channa Jayasumana said the people are seen gathering in large numbers in places of worship and other places.

He told the media today that Sri Lanka is still not out of the woods as yet in terms of the COVID-19 situation.

The State Minister said people seem to be taking things for granted and enjoying themselves without realising the imminent danger.

“That's the very reason why the travel restriction has been extended. However, people are seen behaving as if the pandemic is over; but it is not,” he pointed out.

“This pandemic has dragged on for such a long time. If we are to put an end to this, we should act more responsibly, especially in a situation where measures like curfew are not in effect,” he added.

Thus, Minister Jayasumana invited people to leave no stone unturned in the race against the pandemic so that everyone would be able to see a silver lining of the dark cloud formed by COVID-19. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
