The opening ceremony for the 'BA in Applied Police Studies', a collaborative initiative between the Sri Lanka Police Academy and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was held recently. The primary objective of this program is to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of Sri Lanka's police officers.
The ceremony took place at the auditorium of the Police Criminal Records Division and was attended by the Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles. Viani Gunathilaka, the Secretary of the Public Security Ministry, Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunga, the UGC Chairman, the Vice Chancellor of Sri Jayewardenepura University, and several lecturers also attended.
During the ceremony, the first batch of 150 police officers enrolled in the degree program were officially registered. The significance of this program in strengthening the capabilities of the entire Police Department was underscored by the presence of several senior police officers.
