While condemning a letter circulating on social media requesting to gather in front of the North-Western Province Governor's Office against the assumption of duties of A. J. M. Muzammil as the governor, the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) organisation yesterday said that they had nothing to do with the letter.
Speaking to the media, BBS General Secretary Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera said a letterhead of BBS had been used in the letter which requested all Buddhist monks to gather in front of NWP Governor's Office on Wednesday morning for a protest.
“Several Buddhist monks in the North-Western Province telephoned us and urged us to clarify about the protest to be held outside the NWP Governor's Office. We informed these monks that we were not responsible for such protest and to refrain from participation. This fake letter had been circulated through social media by a certain group,” the Thera said.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media NWP Governor A. J. M. Muzammil said he was aware of such a situation is being created to protest against him.
"I decided to meet the prominent Buddhist monks of the NWP and to discuss the issue and to seek their blessings for my appointment," the Governor said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
