Footage has emerged of the Nou Camp being torn down to rubble as Barcelona push ahead with plans to redevelop the iconic stadium.

A bold redevelopment of the ground has seen cranes tearing down the strand’s structures, just six weeks after the La Liga champions played their final match there.

Barcelona’s £1.25billion refurbishment of the ground is ongoing with the hope a new look Nou Camp will be opened in full for the 2025-26 campaign.

Last July the Catalan giants announced they would leave their historic home and play the 2023-24 season at the Olympic Stadium, which hosted the 1992 Summer Games.

The temporary home is only a short distance across the city from the Nou Camp so should not cause too much disruption for Xavi’s squad.

The Nou Camp will see its capacity increase from 99,354 seats to 105,000, while the renovation will also include a sloped solar-panelled roof, with the ability to capture rainwater to maintain the pitch.

The stadium's name will also be officially changed to the 'Spotify Nou Camp' as part of their sponsorship with the music streaming platform. (SPORT BIBLE)
