The Bribery Commission today filed a fresh indictment against two accused including SLPP Gampaha district Parliamentarian Milan Jayatilleka instead of the indictment withdrawn previously.
Accordingly, the Commission to Investigate Allegations against Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) filed an indictment against Parliamentarian Milan Jayatillake and Ajith Sisira Kumara for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 600,000 from a businessman as a gratification to issue a permit for a quarry while they were serving as the Chairman of Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha and a member of PS respectively in 2012.
On a previous occasion, the Colombo High Court had ordered to release two accused from the Bribery case following the Bribery Commission's decision to withdraw the indictment owing to a technical issue. The fresh indictment had been filed with the written sanction of the Bribery Commission. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
