Eleven senior police officers including the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), SSP W.Thilakaratne, have been transferred with immediate effect, Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratne said.
He said SSP A.R.P.J Alwis has been appointed as the new Director of CID. SSP Alwis was the Director of Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Division.
The spokesman said six SSPs, three SPs and two ASPs were among the transferred officers.
The transfers have been made under the approval of the National Police Commison and the Elections Commison due to service requirements.
Accordingly, the Director CID SSP Thilakaratne has been transferred as Director Ministerial Security Division (MSD) while SSP D.V.P. Ajith Hesiri has been appointed as the Director of the Police College from the post of Director MSD.
SSP T.G.N.W.D. Thalduwa who was the Director of Western Province Intelligence Division has been transferred as the Director of the Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Division while SSP H.C.A Pushpakumara has been appointed as the Director of Western Province Intelligence Division from the post of Director of Police College.
SSP K.G.L Geethal has been appointed as Director of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) from the Nugegoda Division.
Meanwhile, SP C.D Gurusingha has been transferred to the Special Bureau from the post of Director SIU.
SP R.M.G.N Ratnayake, SP R.A.D.E.L Randeniya, ASPs K.S.K Rupasingha and B.G. De Silva Kalinga were also among the transferred. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
