CID to probe death of two Uni. students in 2012

Police Chief N.K. Illangakoon has instructed the CID to investigate the deaths of two university student activist in a road accident in Imbulgoda in 2012.

Police said the victims Janaka Bandara Ekanayeka of the Kelaniya University and Sisitha Priyankara of the Ruhunu University were killed on September 27, 2012 while they were travelling on a motorcycle on the Kandy Road on their way to paste posters at Imbulgoda.

The students, residents of Matale and Modara, were members of the Inter-University Students’ Union.

Police spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said an aggrieved group had requested the IGP to investigate the death which had taken place under mysterious circumstances.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
