Referring to the complaint lodged by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has imported low grade 92 octane petrol, Petroleum Resources Development Deputy Minister Anoma Gamage said the particular sample had been taken for testing from a Lanka IOC fuel filling station.
“On the day we were informed of this matter, I instructed that samples be taken from the all the storage tanks located at Kolonnawa, Sapugaskanda and Muthurajawela but no low grade fuel was found,” she told a news briefing today.
The minister said she had instructed the officials to continue taking samples from filling stations countrywide.
“I have also written to the LIOC requesting them to allow us to take sample from their filling stations as well,” she added.
