The Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) has launched a probe into an incident where a private-owned bowser bearing registration No. WP CY 3250 which was to unload in Polonnaruwa had entered the Colombo Port City premises instead.

An official of the CPSTL said that the incident was reported today. The private-owned bowser was initially used to transport and unload fuel at a reputed  rice mill in Polonnaruwa.

However, after leaving Kolonnawa, the bowser changed its direction and entered the Colombo Port City premises. The bowser was taken into police custody while preparing to unload the fuel, a senior official said.

According to the information received by the Daily Mirror, the bowser was taken into police custody for illegal entry into Colombo Port City and was later released following a telephone call from the the rice mill owner in Polonnaruwa.

However, the CPSTL official said that investigations into the incident are currently underway.

"The rice mill owner had obtained the licence to buy fuel to be used in his business activities. But the registered ownership of the fuel bowser was changed soon after the bowser left the CPSTL main gate, "the official said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
