SJB MP Thushara Indunil asked how could Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was called 'Mr. Clean', sit in the House alongside someone who was convicted by the court.
He told Parliament that the Chief Government Whip was convicted by the court for wrongdoing and asked how the Prime Minister was sitting with a wrongdoer when he is standing against wrongdoings.
The Prime Minister said the Chief Government Whip was convicted by the court and that he had the right to appeal in Supreme Court and Appeal Court against the sentence.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said if the appeal was rejected, he would not sit in the House with him and that he could not do so.
"I will remain until then," he said. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
