Colombo, November 07 (Daily Mirror)- Claiming that some opposition politicians are alleging that the government has failed to fulfil its promises, Minister Vijitha Herath said the manifesto of the National People's Power (NPP) was presented to be completed within five years and not within five weeks.

He told an election rally that the government presented its manifesto to be completed in five years and that it cannot be fulfilled within five weeks as claimed by some opposition politicians like Sajith Premadasa.

"We have to make more decisions. We cannot finish a task which was planned for five years within five weeks. The NPP manifesto was presented to be fulfilled within five years and not in five weeks. We have not even formed a government yet. We took important decisions in politics and the economy within the last five weeks. The opposition is day dreaming for the government to collapse," he said.

The Minister said only three Ministers are running the country now whereas hundreds of Ministers had failed to resolve the issues, ultimately plunging the country into bankruptcy.

"We have shown that we are now marching on a new path. The main reason for bankruptcy of the economy is corrupt political culture, fraud, corruption and wastage," he said.
