Cases risen to 578 yesterday; Kurunegala on top

While recording the highest number of COVID positive cases from the Kurunegala District as 171 yesterday, the daily reporting of COVID cases has risen to 578, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

According to the statistics issued by the NOCPCO this morning, 51 among them were overseas returnees and 11 foreigners and the rest (516) were locals.

51 from Puttalam district while 43 infected persons have been reported from Colombo and Gampaha Districts by this morning, the Prevention Centre said.

Meanwhile, 92,938 cases linked to the Minuwangoda and Brandix clusters and 89,363 cases affiliated to the Peliyagoda fish market cluster have been reported by this morning, the centre noted. The remaining 251 cases were reported from other districts.

Moreover, 98, 049 COVID cases have been reported within the country so far by this morning, and 93, 667 of them have returned home completely cured.

Meanwhile, 3,752  patients are still being treated at centres.

During the past 24 hours ending at 6.00 am today, 121 patients have left the treatment centres after having completely cured.

A total number of 10,666 persons are still under treatment at 105 quarantine centres which are controlled by the military.
