A Fundamental Rights petition filed by incumbent Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne challenging his arrest over a road accident in 2023 has been dismissed by Supreme Court.
Former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Senior DIG and Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne had filed this petition challenging his arrest on 28 October 2023, following a road accident within the Wellawatte Police Division.
Supreme Court three-judge-bench comprising Justices S. Thurairaja, A.H.M.D. Nawaz and Priyantha Fernando decided to dismiss the petition in limine, after upholding the preliminary objections raised by the Attorney General challenging the maintainability of the petition.
