Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - United Republican Front (URF) leader MP Patali Champika Ranawaka who heads the Ways and Means Committee of Parliament, stressed the need for digitization of all public service activities such as issuing of government certificates, payments of bills and fines etc. in a bid to curb corruption and improve efficiency.
Addressing the Colombo district convention of his party, he referred to the importance of Unified Interfaith Payment for this.
He said India and Bangladesh have successfully progressed in digitization and asked why Sri Lanka could not make headway.
Commenting on the organized crimes being committed in the country, he said politicians have acted in collusion with organized criminals right throughout history. He said the menace has engulfed the entire system today.
