Seven special teams have been formed to conduct investigations into the death of Sri Lankan underworld don Angoda Lokka, Coimbatore CID Inspector General of Police K Shankar said on Tuesday.

"We started the investigation today. OH Raju, DSP, has been appointed as investigation officer. We would conduct investigations in various angles including the reason for the death of Angoda Lokka," said Shankar.

He said the Coimbatore police had already arrested two women and a man for fabricating documents and hiding Lokka’s citizenship, the Times of India reported.

"We will take them into our custody," said Shankar.

He said that CB-CID registered two cases -- death of Angoda Lokka and fabricating documents.

"Many details are available about Angoda Lokka in public domain. We have to cross check the details. A woman who stayed with him confirmed the death of Angoda Lokka. We are also investigating to find out whether the deceased person is Angoda Lokka or not," he added.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan police officials have approached the Indian embassy in Colombo in connection with the death of Lokka.
Lokka died of a cardiac arrest on July 3 night at his home in Cheran Maa Nagar in Coimbatore. The body was taken to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital where a postmortem was performed.

Madurai-based lawyer Sivakami Sundari lodged a complaint with the Peelamedu police on July 4 and said that the deceased man’s name was Pradeep Singh and he was a relative of her. She said he had died of a cardiac arrest and no foul play was there behind the death. She took to the body to Madurai where it was cremated.

The Peelamedu police registered a case against Amani Dhanji, who was staying with Angoda Lokka, Sivakami Sundari and her friend, Dhayaneswaran, for assisting Lokka to obtain Aadhaar card and taking a rental house for him and arrested them.
