Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith today said he will be compelled to call for a probe by an international court over the Easter Sunday attacks, if justice is not meted out to victims of the mayhem and their families.
Cardinal Ranjith told a press conference that he is not satisfied with the investigations carried out by some, including the CID.
"I hope I would not have to seek the assistance of any international institutions, but would be compelled to call for such assistance if justice is not meted out to us. Those who were affected by the carnage expect some kind of redress from me. Also I believe that that government would not allow the Easter Sunday issue as another international topic as it has already faced with some international pressure in Geneva" he said.
Also the Archbishop said he would take some action locally as well shortly. "I will announce this move later, as it will be a judicial matter," Cardinal Ranjith said.
He stressed the need for uncovering as to who was behind the attack and action should be taken against those who have ignored prior warnings about the attack.
Further he said he is yet to receive a copy of the Presidential commission report. “I can inform the affected persons about the report, if I get a copy of it,” he said.(Yohan Perera)
