Colombo, Nov 01 (Daily Mirror) - A couple has been arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) at Kiriwewa in Sevanagala along with nearly 54 kilos of heroin valued at Rs. 2,000 million.
Officers from three Special Operations Divisions of the STF conducted a raid and recovered 53 kilos and 65 grams of heroin concealed in three plastic containers buried in the garden of the house.
The suspects, a husband and wife, have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
The STF said that the arrested woman is the sister of Dhammika Samankumara, who was arrested by the STF for possession of heroin just days earlier in Piliyandala.
