Colombo, Nov 19 (Daily Mirror) - The Court of Appeal today issued an order directing the hospital authorities to submit a report on the health condition of former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, who is currently in remand custody in connection with a case involving an unregistered luxury vehicle.
The court was informed that Lohan Ratwatte is currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Colombo.
Former Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam, PC, appearing for Lohan Ratwatte, requested support for the writ application for interim relief.
However, Deputy Solicitor General Shanil Kularatne, representing the Attorney General, raised objections, stating that he was required to file limited objections against the petition.
After considering the facts, the court directed the Attorney General to file limited objections by November 29.
The writ petition was scheduled for a hearing on December 9 by a two-judge bench of the Court of Appeal, comprising Justice (President) Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice Shashi Mahendran.
Lohan Ratwatte had filed this writ petition before the Court of Appeal, seeking an order for his release on bail in connection with the same case involving the unregistered luxury vehicle.
