Court prevents police from moving ’Harak Kata’ without notifying Magistrate

Colombo, Jan. 17 (Daily Mirror)- The Court of Appeal today issued an interim order preventing police from moving and changing the current place of detention of Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne alias “Harak Kata”, without first notifying the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.

Court of Appeal Justice D.N. Samara made this order pursuant to a writ petition filed by Nelson Wickramaratne, the father of Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne.

Nadun Chinthaka alias 'Harak Kata' is presently detained under CID custody pursuant to a detention order issued under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act. 

President’s Counsel Faiszer Musthapha with Counsel Pulasthi Rupasinha and Ridmi Beneragama appeared for the petitioner.
