Covid-19 cases in Colombo from Peliyagoda-Minuwangoda cluster exceed 5,000

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the Colombo District from the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters exceeded 5,000.

Accordingly, a total of 5,127 Covid-19 patients were reported in the Colombo District as of today since October 4 with the 205 cases reported yesterday.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported from Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters stand at 13,079 as of this morning.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said that 4,917 cases were reported in the Gampaha District while 595 cases were reported in the Kalutara District during the period. 40 patients and 14 patients were reported from Gampaha and Kalutara districts respectively during the last 24-hour.

A total of 234 persons from Kurunegala, 182 from  Kegalle, 134 from Kandy, 118 from Galle, 107 from Rathnapura were also contracted with the virus since October 4.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 recoveries in the country is7,899 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours. 3,106 of them were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 9,973 were from Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.
 
A total of 16,582 cases were reported from all over the country and that11,323 of them were fully-recovered while other 5,206 patients are under medical care at hospitals.

The total number of deaths reported due to coronavirus is 53.

At least 30,000 persons of first and second contacts of COVID-19 positive cases are under self-quarantine.
