The unloading of gas from the vessel that has arrived at the Colombo Port has been disrupted due to the cyclonic weather and although initially authorities were planning to distribute 80,000 gas cylinders per day, only 8,000 cylinders will now be distributed, officials said.
While gas is usually unloaded through the Conventional Buoy Mooring method, this has been disrupted due to the cyclonic weather and the stocks are now being transported slowly.
Although the PM's office had initially announced that 80,000 cylinders will be distributed per day, only 8000 cylinders will now be released into the market till the weather normalizes. (JAMILA HUSAIN)
