Colombo, October 21 (Daily Mirror) - Actress turned political activist Damitha Abeyratne announced that she had resigned from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), joining the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) which is contesting the upcoming general election under the post box symbol.
"I decided to leave SJB as its Leader Sajith Premadasa did not mete out justice to me and did not uphold my democratic rights," Abeyratne told the media.
Abeyratne's name was controversially scratched off the SJB's list of candidates for the Ratnapura district at the last moment, on the final day nominations were accepted on October 11.
