The deadline to return firearms provided to civilians for personal protection has been extended till November 21, 2024, the Ministry of Defence said.
According to the Ministry, the decision to extend the deadline was taken in response to requests from various parties, including licensees currently abroad and insufficient time to notify all licensees through formal letters.
All licensees were earlier informed to return to the Commercial Explosive Firearms and Ammunition Procurement Unit (CEFAP) at the Sri Lanka Navy camp in Welisara before 07.11.2024.
