Defence Secretary reviews security situation in Arugam Bay

Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Spath Thuyakontha visited the Eastern Province today (Nov 10) to assess the security situation in the Arugam Bay area. 

During the visit, he was briefed by senior military and police officers on the current security status and ongoing measures to ensure the region's safety.

Following the briefing, the Defence Secretary provided specific instructions to local authorities regarding actions to maintain security in Arugam Bay and across Sri Lanka's tourist destinations.

He emphasised the importance of safeguarding the freedom of tourists while reinforcing confidence in the nation's security efforts.

The Defence Secretary was accompanied by senior officials from the Defence Ministry, along with senior military personnel, Special Task Force members, and police officers.
