Defending champs Kandy face CH test at Nittawela

Kandy, Dec. 2 (Daily Mirror) - Defending League champions, Kandy Sports Club, under the newly appointed Skipper Lavanga Perera, will face the CH and FC in their opening game of the SLR Nippon Paint Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament encounter at the Nittawela Stadium in Kandy on Sunday. The kick-off is scheduled for 3.45 p.m.

CH and FC, under Avishka Lee are fortunate to have Hirusha Sampath, the former Kingswoodian, who occupies the fly half position.

Ravindu Hettiarachchi and Nirosh Perera are the other two outstanding players in their outfit.

CH and FC also posses the most knowledgeable coach in the country, Sanath Martis, who will have a fresh start after his stint with Havelock Sports Club last year.

Meanwhile, Kandy SC will have almost the entire playing XV which represented the side last year.

Last year Skipper, Damith Dissanayake is the only player who will miss out as he has migrated to Canada.

Tharinda Ratwatte, Srinarth Sooriyabandara, Dhanushka Ranjan, Jason Dissanayake, Kavindu Perera and Nigel Ratwatte are the star players in the Kandy SC outfit.

Once again Kandy SC will be coached by Fazil Marija with Viraj Prashanth as the Forwards Coach while Kapila Silva will be the Team Manager.

Former Vidyartha College player and leading referee plus Trinity College Head Coach of the Under-16 outfit, Priyantha Gunaratne will officiate this game.
